Earl D. Bennett Letter – 3-5-44 To Folks

TRANSCRIPT

DATED 3-5-44

Dearest Folks –

I just arrived here and took a good shower and cleaned up and decd. to write you a few lines before my furlough is up and time to go to bed. I got in camp about 6:30 this evening & my furlough isn’t up till twelve tonight.

I had a swell time while I was at home. I hope sis can get enough gas tickets to run her till she gets a new book.

All the guys think we will be here a few days longer so you can keep writing me until I tell you I’m leaving here.

My bag hadn’t arrived yet when I got in so guess I’ll have to go in town in the morning and get it. I’ve got to have some clean clothes and they’re all in the bag I brought home.

I met a cute girl who chatted to me all the way back and I’m really sleepy tonight so I’ll close for now & write you again real soon. (Have you recd. the check as yet?) Write real soon.

Love

Earl D.
